About Communities of Hope
Don and LeeAnn Fredricks live in Southern California. They have five children and nineteen grandchildren!
Don is founding co-director of COH, and Up-Lift Aquaponics. Before establishing COH, Don worked as a field representative and team leader for "Strategic World Impact" and worked as a Missions Director at Water of Life Community Church. Don received his BA in Elementary Education at Colorado Christian University (formerly Rockmont College).
LeeAnn is serving COH as founding co-director and has experience serving other non-profits with her skills in admistration and accounting.
Key Concepts of "Compassion with Dignity":
- The motivation for compassion is the heart of God- God is at work in our world!
- Requires thoughtful consideration of the long-term impact of a project or intervention.
- Strives for sustainable, appropriate, cooperative and participatory, asset-based development.
- Is a creative and God-inspired response that matches the unique individual or community.
- Reconciled relationships are produced and nurtured (Poverty Alleviation).
- Values each individual as created in the image of God and loved by Him.
- Both the giver and receiver are benefited from compassion with dignity. "Win-Win"
- Timely in responding (boldly advance in faith when windows of opportunity are presented)
- Self-awareness of our own poverty is a safe-guard against “God Complexes” that are toxic and hurtful.
- A demonstration of Love reflects the heart of God and the proclamation of Hope reveals the heart of God!

Our Mission:
Communities of Hope is an international, faith-based, relief and development organization dedicated to assisting the church in bringing a message of Hope and a demonstration of Love to those who are oppressed or locked in the cycle of poverty. Our projects focus on holistic community transformation through "compassion with dignity".
